Pillar 1: Occupational Health & Safety (⚖️ MANDATORY under ArbSchG). Pillar 2: BEM – Return-to-Work Management (⚖️ MANDATORY under SGB IX § 167). Pillar 3: Health Promotion (💚 Voluntary, but massively worthwhile – ROI up to 1:5.5!).
What’s mandatory, what’s voluntary?
MANDATORY are 2 pillars: (1) Occupational safety incl. risk assessment (physical & psychological), (2) BEM after 42 days sick leave. VOLUNTARY is health promotion – but this is where you really benefit! ROI up to 1:5.5, sick days -26%.
Which laws do I comply with?
ArbSchG (Occupational Safety Act) for safety + risk assessments. SGB IX § 167 for BEM. And § 20b SGB V gives you the right to health insurer support for health promotion!
